The dust jacket is NOT price clipped and has a stated price of 18s. The jacket no edgewear, no rips, no chips, no stains, no rubbing, no fading, no sunning/darkening and no foxing, but a tiny nick to tip edge of flap fold (hard to even see). The colors are strong and vibrant and without any of the usual toning to the spine.
The original striking unrestored jacket is in fine condition. Boldly signed on the half title page by iconic Bond girl Maud Adams (?Andrea?), as ?Maud Adams / Andrea?. Beautiful clean book internally appearing as unread. The internal pages are clean, flat and bright with No marks, No writing, No foxing, No bent pages, No age toning and No stains. The patterned end papers are in perfect condition being clean and bright, with no owner names, no inscriptions, no bookstore stamps, and no bookplates.
The book has clean cloth with very sharp corners and no edgewear. The book is in beautiful fine condition with crisp black boards. Boldly signed on the half title page by iconic Bond girl Maud Adams (?Andrea?), in the 1974 film adaptation and notably the only Bond girl to feature in two different James Bond films. First Edition, First Printing: A FINE condition crisp, clean book with a striking vibrant FINE condition dust jacket. Nevertheless it remains by far the scarcest recognised discreet state of any James Bond book. The reason for its apparent extreme scarcity was that being the earliest copies, they were all sent to the colonies, principally Australia and South Africa. According to publisher's records, 940 copies were thus blocked, a larger number than had previously been thought (though still a tiny proportion of the 82,000 copies of the first edition printed).
The decision to cease stamping a golden gun was purely economical." - Gilbert (Ian Fleming Bibliography). the original estimate allowed for just four and a half square inches of foil-stamping. "According to the publisher's book production files. A decision was made, very early in the process, that to block the whole print run with such a large expanse of foil, would be financially prohibitive. All Fleming's previous novels have a decorated front board, and it was the publisher's intention to do the same with this book.
